Hoping to Promote Change.
Glasgow Caledonian is an institution offering second-rate courses to students who generally set themselves low targets, which in turn it will frequently be unable to realistically let them achieve.
It's a 'pile them high/sell them cheap' approach that has no legitimate place in the Scottish education system. Compounding this with a lack of accountability and standards, over willingness to fabricate, suppression of anything unfavourable, blatant persecution of critics, and an excessively pecuniary interest in the cost/quality ratio of teaching and resources, only serves to further prejudice any students realistic expectations.
I felt prompted to contribute following its being brought to my attention by an internal memo distributed some months ago informing of your site, then subsequently being asked if we could identify contributors, and since then having met three former competent students each of whom had contacted employers who had declined to offer interviews, to find each in turn practiced a de facto 'no Caledonian graduates' policy. Additional annoyances were seeing a female colleague brought to tears for being sympathetic with a student complaining about the lack of facilities, and her being reminded the policy advice 'you cannot expect a computer each' and the Principals sycophantic press release praising SFC for increasing our funding, yet when the moneys they 'fined' us for over admitting were deducted, we actually received less.
This is written hoping to promote change, as many here are dissatisfied with the institution, yet are aware of the consequences of voicing their concerns.
