The university has let students remain on courses after the professional body withdrew accreditation.
Courses have been extended to hide deficient standards (students could not graduate on time).
Damaging government reports by the Funding Council were prevented from being published by the principal (The Darby Report).
Internal reports were redone at the instruction of the principal who feared they would fall into the public domain.
Students who failed were allowed to progress to the next year after failing - so the funding for the course could continue. (They were give a 'special' resit well into the next year, which they all passed)
Internal documents show the principal is concerned standards are so poor their funding will be reduced.
One NAO report 'misconduct at glasgow caledonian' was published - read it before going there (£13 from good bookshops).
Numerous internal documents show the computing department is 'troubled by malevolence', and two of the last three heads of departments have submitted long complaints about staff lying.
They spend less on computing and library facilities that any other UK university (per student capita) and couldn't provide computer access to all computing students until half way through the course.
Endless examples of complaints being suppressed (including a break in where only complaints were stolen).
Their solicitor has warned them the complaints procedure fails to comply with european law, and could constitute 'degrading treatment' (I have the email, Golds solicitors to IJ the principal).
I was a student there, and didn't fail any exams/work - I passed everything (with my position in the class appearing to be roughly third) with all passes at 'good' or 'with merit' but was removed from my course after complaining about being unable to access computers.
I have a student card and my registration document - yet they claimed I was not on a course and only attending out of interest.
Students taking courses out of interest are not entitled to grants/fees - and I have been taken to court into double figures of times in attempts to get this (I have lost count now, but the court are sending me the records).
They appointed the person I was complaining about to present my complaint - and then to chair the meeting.
Other parts of complaining were having to drive staff about and having to drive 70 miles to talk about my complaint (I lived 4 miles from the university). I was also given a telephone number in Portugal to complain to!
DONT EVEN GO THERE!
Any other information, telephone me on 07092 007658.
I wasted four years of my life and passed everything at good grades to find I was not taking a course - dont do the same.
I can copy you documents for most of the above - and have an independent report from a (former) member of staff substantiating the majority of this.
I attempted to obtain information from the university that the data protection registrar said I was entitled to. It should take 40 days to receive this, but four letters and three and a half years later I am still waiting.
To date no external body will investigate student complaints, and the students association failed to do anything after a meeting with management. (claiming I am pursuing them in a court case - I'm not, nor never have).
