I know someone who got an offer of 3 Es to go to Oxford, a few years ago. That's just ridiculous for an institution who can afford to ask for maximum achievements, and often turn such achievements down. I suppose they must have either really wanted her or her parents had connections, but either way that's about as close to an unconditional offer as you can get from Oxford. She did actually achieve higher than this but they would have accepted her with poor grades. Anyway I think if you achieve Bs at AS level and you're willing to do whatever it takes to raise them (ie resits in January) and work hard in the second year you should try applying if it's what you really want. One thing you mustn't have when you experience University is regrets; it's only one space of six on your form so it's worth a shot.
