Like many universities, Hertfordshire has its ups and downs.
Firstly the good points. The courses are generally good and well taught especially if you do a course where you need to be clever like aerospace engineering, like I do.
If you are considering a course like media studies, I recommend you go back to your council house and start a restart course at your local job centre!
The nightlife is ok in Hatfield but not brilliant. The union serves no Ale but shitty stuff like snakebite and lager at ordinary prices except on pound a pint night which is good.
The music is shit with mainly rude (loser) boy(z)urban and garage music but there is alternative music night if you like to listen to pretentious bad musicianship. Basically there is no live funk, Jazz and fusion night which there should be!
However, if you have some descent friend with some imagination you can cheaply use the uni bus to get to Watford and St Albans for a wicked night out. Or even get the train to London.
The accomodation at de Havilland is very nice and comfortable but is a bit of a ghetto outside with gangs of loser(z) who wear unfashionable Kappa clothes, talk like wankers who could really do with ellocution lessons and should go back to their counsil houses.
The older halls on Hatfield campus are adequate and have a nicer atmosphere in them.
To sum up, you can study a good course here and enjoy some nightlife if you travel a bit to get to it. Just try to ignore the Kevs who roam the area and listen to "da ill kidz" who should really go to the doctorz to get betterz!
